Palm Beach Art Galleries

In 1879, New York industrialist and oil tycoon, Henry Flagler, visited Florida and envisioned the creation of an American Riviera. It was the right time, and the right place, and had he the right friends…like John D. Rockefeller and Julia Tuttle.

Henry Flagler built the Palm Beach Inn (which was renamed the The Breakers in 1901) while he worked on extending what became the Florida East Coast Railway, to give visitors access to Palm Beach. He built Whitehall, a 75-room, 100,00 square foot residence as his Palm Beach winter retreat. Whitehall has been preserved as the Flagler Museum, a National Historic Landmark, with year-round tours.

Flagler’s vision of an American Riviera became a reality, and has grown into a magnificent place to live and vacation for Americans and world travelers. The growth brought the need for goods and services and gave rise to upscale commerce.

The art galleries along Worth Avenue are nestled between restaurants, cafes, and fabulous boutiques.
