Hughes works have become increasingly sought after, especially after her paintings were given an entire room of their own at the 2017 Whitney Biennial. Her dream-like landscapes are part of the permanent collection of The Met, The Smithsonian, the Whitney and other major museums and galleries.

Jonas Wood’s home and studio have always played a major role in his artworks. Wood and his wife, sculptor Shio Kusaka, have shared, not just a home and family, but a studio. Her works often appear in his paintings and prints.

Now they may each want their own studio space; the couple has bought a 5,582 square feet, 1920s Art Nouveau home in Los Angeles, with 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The mansion was once owned by the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist, Flea and reportedly rented at one time or another by Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground. The selling price was $10.3 million.

Wood’s paintings and prints have done exceedingly well at auction, with his painting  Two Tables With a Floral Pattern selling at Christie’s for $6.5 million in 2021.
