“A lot of people want to paint something timeless, but I paint the immediate present.”
– Alex Katz
Alex Katz has been inspired by what is right in front of him. For the last seven decades he has followed his own sense of style. His works defy categorization. He paints figures, landscapes and flowers, using colors that might seem impossible from another artist’s brush, but become sophisticated and serene when they flow from Katz’s.
Last year his work set records at the Phillips Auction House in London and At the Sotheby’s auction house in New York.
A limited edition portfolio, just 35 copies, of Katz’s landscapes has been released along with a show of his works at the Frank Flüegel Gallery in Nuernberg, Germany.
Alex Katz currently has a solo exhibit at the Sant’Andrea de Scaphis Gallery in Rome that will run through January, 2021 and his work is part of a group show at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Pantin in Paris.
He has upcoming shows scheduled for 2022 in Japan and the Netherlands, and a 2022 retrospective of his work is planned at the Guggenheim, New York.

The work of Jonas Wood was shown alongside the works of Alex Katz and Reggie Burrows Hodges at the Karma Gallery show.
The influence of Alex Katz can be seen in Wood’s choice of color and design. His works have been doing exceedingly well at auction.
